Natura Receives ISO 22000:2005 Certification
Fremont, NE (February 9, 2009) – Natura Pet Products, makers of Innova, EVO, California Natural, HealthWise, Karma and Mother Nature, has recently received certification of conformance with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standard for Food Safety Management 22000:2005. Natura is the only pet food manufacturer in the United States to receive this superior distinction.
ISO 22000:2005 specifies rigorous standards for food safety management systems. To receive certification, an organization must demonstrate its ability to control food safety hazards at any stage in the food chain in order to ensure that food is safe at the time of consumption. The advanced certification requires the successful implementation of key elements such as interactive communication, system management, prerequisite programs, and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) principals.

Natura previously achieved and retains its ISO 9001:2001 certification, a family of requirements for quality management systems. ISO 9001:2001 is a principal-based standard while ISO 22000:2005 is a procedural-orientated guide. Natura’s Quality Control Program has helped the company achieve many other certifications, including a “Superior” rating from the American Institute of Baking, USDA Organic production certification and registration with the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service.
