Dr. Sean Delaney Named Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Scientific and Medical Officer

San Jose, CA (August 30, 2007)– Natura Pet Products, the company committed to producing the world’s healthiest pet food, has hired noted veterinarian, nutritionist, and lecturer, Dr. Sean Delaney. Dr. Delaney will serve as Natura’s Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Scientific and Medical Officer. In his new capacity, Dr. Delaney will also serve as Director of Special Projects focusing on product development, technical support, and research.

“We have had the privilege of collaborating with Dr. Delaney on several projects, and have come to value his unique insights into pet health and nutrition,” said Natura President Peter Atkins. “There are very few individuals with training, knowledge and expertise in both of these areas. Dr. Delaney will serve a vital role in fulfilling our mission of educating pet care professionals and consumers about the links between optimum nutrition and good health.”

Dr. Delaney is widely known for his work with Davis Veterinary Medical (DVM) Consulting, a company he founded in 2003 that specializes in nutritional consulting for the pet food industry. The firm has completed projects for a variety of pet food, treat, and supplement manufacturers. These contracts have ranged from product development and analysis to product literature creation. He has also been a highly recruited veterinary nutrition and pet food industry spokesman.

Recognizing the need for better nutritional information, as well as options for pets that cannot or will not eat commercial pet food, DVM Consulting launched the Balance IT® system in 2005. Balance IT® is web-based nutrition software that provides a centralized database of commercial pet food, creates custom feeding plans for patients, and automatically formulates homemade pet food. The software along with the system’s patent pending all-in-one supplements received extensive news coverage within the last few months as various pet food recalls prompted consumers to investigate alternative diet options for their pets. Balance IT® is used internationally by pet lovers, veterinarians, and veterinary nutritionists.

“I look forward to bringing my knowledge and experience from academia, industry consulting, clinical practice, and business management to Natura. I am excited about this new position and the opportunity it provides me to improve the health of pets through better nutrition,” said Delaney.

The recipient of a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, Dr. Delaney holds both a Master’s degree in Nutrition and a Doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of California, Davis (UCD). After finishing an internship in small animal medicine and surgery, Dr. Delaney completed the first full-time clinical nutrition residency at UCD. Following his residency, he was a lecturer, associate veterinarian and assistant clinical professor in the Department of Molecular Biosciences at UCD for four years. During that time he helped develop and establish the largest clinical veterinary nutrition teaching program in the country.

Dr. Delaney served for two years as the vice president of the American Academy of Veterinary Nutrition (AAVN). He also currently serves as the vice president of the American College of Veterinary Nutrition (ACVN). Dr. Delaney attained small animal Diplomate status with the ACVN in 2003, and is presently only one of approximately 40 such designees in the world.
